Katelyn TP #14
I met with Jun yesterday afternoon. We missed our last session because he went out of town. Since our meeting was after school he was a little less focused and I cut the session to 40 minutes rather than the hour. He had some tests and vocab worksheets that had been graded by his teacher. We went over his errors and explained why he was getting marked off. It seems his teacher wants him to write more explanations for his short answer responses. She marks off points when he only answers part of the question. He often answers his questions with one simple sentence. I told him to start trying to provide more examples and information for his answers. I told him that when he thinks he is done answering the question to stop and think if there is anything else he could add to better answer the question being asked.

Good approach! You could also practice the 5 Ws with him.
