CP # 4 April 17th
I met Jaime after observing Angel’s class, and after CIES one day we walked
around to the Tennessee Strip and smoked some cigarettes as he waited for his
wife to get off work. I thought he was an interesting person, because he was
older and yet still dedicated to learning English with the rest of the CIES
students. Jaime is from Spain, and moved here with his wife in the last couple
years. The one thing I noticed about him through Angel’s class was a true passion for getting
the right answers, and was very excited to be there. I mentioned this to him,
and he laughed. He thought that was because he had paid his own money to be
here, as opposed to most of the other students, whom he claimed their parents
paid for their classes at CIES. He mentioned that he wanted to get a job in
Tallahassee when he graduated CIES, which I think was actually the following
day. His wife worked as a Research Assistant within the College of Medicine and
as such, he wanted to get a job at FSU or at least in Tallahassee to stay
around her. He seemed like a really good dude and I was glad I got to spend
some time with him.
