Matt CP #6

Having just finished at CIES, Marcos is leaving this week to return to Venezuela. I've really enjoyed getting to know Marcos and wanted to hang out with before he headed out, so we met up Wednesday night for a concert at Club Downunder. One of my favorite bands was playing, and Marcos had mentioned before that he liked punk music so I figured he'd enjoy it. We had an awesome time.

I picked Marcos up from Colony CLub and we chatted a little about music and how he felt about leaving CIES. He laughed and said he was tired of everyone asking him that, but that he had mixed feelings - he's been away from home for a long time, 7 months, so he's ready to go back; but at the same time he will miss all the friends he's made here and the experiences he's had.

The night gets kind of hazy from here. The show was incredible, one of the best I've seen in Tallahassee. I was afraid Marcos might not enjoy it because their sound can be a little abrasive, but he was in the middle of the crowd dancing with all of us. He stayed out of the mosh pit (good call), but regardless he said it was an awesome concert and bought one of the CDs they were selling. Afterwards we all went over to my friend's for some drinks and hung out for a couple hours. Marcos got grilled again and again on whether he was sad about leaving, but he just laughed and gave his prepared response.

Around 1 I dropped Marcos off, and we agreed to meet up for a game of soccer the next day. We said our goodbyes after and I told Marcos I was happy to have gotten to know him. He told me that if I end up in South America, there'll be a place for me to stay in Venezuela. Hopefully we'll meet again, but if we don't it was good at least to have had our brief but valuable friendship.
