I met with Anton again, at his home. We ended our session last time going over a quiz of various grammar level questions. Anton struggled with "has, had and have" understanding. I went home and did some research of my own and prepared a lesson reviewing the present perfect tense which intensively used have, has and had. I explained to Anton the normal definitions of have has and had, but also told them they can be used to describe certain actions that happen in the past. I reviewed the common types of usages for the present prefect tense: an unspecified time in the past, when indicating a change over time, when describing an event that started in the past but is still going own.
I explained their usage in depth and then Anton completed fill in the blank sentences that had him use either simple past or present perfect tense to complete the sentence. Anton seemed to understand and got most of the sentences correct. Next I explained, how has to and have to can be used as modal verbs to express necessity and certainty. He seemed very confused about this but I used the word "must" to compare necessity. After reviewing this, we proceeded to do another exercise about present perfect Anton also seemed to struggle with this but got a majority of them right. We made plans for our next lesson to review the present perfect continuous tense and also review past perfect tense.
