Rick Shemanski TP#10

I met with Ingrid at her place. She was on the phone with her Mom back home and I joined their Skype conversation. Ingrid showed me some of her homework and I check its accuracy. Ingrid did very well and got them all right but one. I couldn't access the wifi in Ingrid’s house, so it was difficult to proceed with the lesson I had planned. Instead, I transitioned to a lesson about greetings, both informal and formal. First we practiced informal greetings. I showed Ingrid a script I had written.
Hey what’s up?
Not much. What about you?

How’s it going?
Pretty good, and you?

Hey, how are you?
Good, and you?

I modeled these responses and Ingrid practiced their pronunciation. Next Ingrid memorized the appropriate response to each question, and I would randomly say a greeting and Ingrid would have to recite the appropriate response. We then practiced our handshake and I informed her about when to shake someone’s hand. We then transitioned into formal greetings.

Hello, it is very nice to meet you.
Hi, how are you?

I explained to Ingrid that there is not much difference but in formal greetings we don’t say “hey”, and we don’t use slang or conjunctions. After practicing formal greetings, I quizzed Ingrid on vocab words associated with the house and parts of the body.
