CP #3 April 9th
Carolina and I met up during CIES lunch hours. She was talking about a
presentation she had to give at the end of the week but I couldn’t really
understand what the topic was. I offered to help tutor her as well but I think
she was too shy to really accept my offer. It’s amazing how little she truly understands
compared to Rebecca (my tutee) who I would still consider to have quite
inadequate English skills (being a level 2 speaker). However, as I think that,
I remember that she came to Tallahassee in December speaking literally 0
English, and has only been taking English classes for about 4 months. In that
sense, it’s shocking that she can keep up with the rate at which I talk.
Sometimes it’s difficult to try to remember to slow down your speech, or more
importantly, limit the amount of tenses you use in your conversations with
them.
