Today Daeyoung wanted to work on
phrasal verbs during our tutoring session.
She said that her conversation partner used a lot during speaking which
she often got confused about. I looked online and found a couple of fill in
the blank worksheets that we went through. For the most part she was able to
answer correctly on the first try, but there were a couple that she found
tricky. Some phrasal verbs like “ran up,” “get over,” and “pick out” needed a
little more explanation than others, and I tried to give as many examples as I
could. When I first started tutoring I
struggled with coming up with examples off of the top of my head, but I feel
like I have gotten better at it with practice. We pretty much worked on phrasal
verbs for the whole hour, but we also got a little side-tracked because of her
spring break coming up which she is veyr excited for.
I am happy to hear that you're getting better at coming up with examples! I think that does come with practice, after all. I think you're getting used to working your brain to think of ways to easily explain things and that just shows that you're learning the right things out of this TEFL class ;) I think you're doing great with your tutee and hope that she learns a lot!
