For my second tutoring session with
Daeyoung we met at Strozier again. I printed off another “adjectives before
prepositions” worksheet because she struggled with it a little last time. She seemed to better understand it this time
which was gratifying to see. Next, Daeyoung wanted to get more practice with
countable and uncountable nouns, so I looked up an activity online that was a list
of nouns, and the student was responsible for sorting the words into the proper
category of either countable or uncountable. Often times when doing these
activities, I feel like I’m learning just as much as Daeyoung is about how our
language works.
We only had a little bit of time
left after doing these grammar activities and Daeyoung suggested we go over
some slang words and phrases. I looked
online for a good list, but many of the phrases were outdated or rarely used.
However, Daeyoung took a particular liking to the work “hunk” and said it describes
one of her CIES teachers perfectly.
