David Sutton TP #6

On Wednesday, March 19, I conducted my second tutoring session with Tatiana.  She is an advanced English language student, so I planned to really challenge her for this session.

Our warm-up was a quick drill.  I had her choose words which contained vowels which I randomly selected.  Tatiana handled this drill very well.  We then launched into a grammar exercise on prepositions.  Based on our research, there are a great many prepositions out there.  Since Tatiana is learning at a higher level, we looked at some prepositions which border on rarely ever used, all the way to the obscure.  For example, how often does someone use the preposition, "on account of" in daily chatter.  The exercise turned out to be an interesting learning event for both us.

Lastly, Tatiana conducted reading and dictation exercises, where I used longer paragraphs with more complex words than last time.  I should have used some type of modeling event prior to launching into this exercise, and next time I will, nevertheless she handled the transition very well.
