Yesterday I met with my second
conversation partner, Eunkyoung. We both live near Atomic Coffee so we decided
to meet there. We were going over the basic questions and I asked Eunkyoung how
old she was. She laughed and told me to guess, but I told her I knew I would be
wrong because I feel like Korean women look younger than American women of the
same age (lucky for them). It turns out that Eunkyoung is actually good friends
with my CIES tutee, Daeyoung. Eunkyoung taught at an English language institute
back home in Korea, where she met her American boyfriend.
We talked about a few difference
between Tallahassee and Seoul. Eunkyoung
went to Governor’s Square to go shopping, and she said that prices of bedding
and clothing were significantly cheaper here than in Seoul. However, eating out at a restaurant is more
expensive here. She told me that for single people (i.e people not in a family)
it is cheaper to eat out in Korea than to go to a grocery store, because
groceries can be more expensive.
Eunkyoung and a couple of other
CIES students are planning on going to Disneyworld for a couple of days over
spring break, so I gave her the lowdown on the different parks and we looked up
the ticket prices. We’re planning on going to food truck Thursday (next Thursday
when they aren’t on spring break) so if anyone wants to join with their
conversation partners you’re more than welcome to!
