In my last session with Divino, we went over the CONDITIONAL
and if-clauses again. I was able to use materials from the TEFL course, among
other things a handout, I received from Matthew during our role-play, his
teaching session. The handout had great pictures of places in the
English-speaking world, and it said: “If you could live anywhere…” I told
Divino, it could be anywhere, that it didn’t have to be in an English-speaking
country. However, he chose Florida of all places. If he didn’t have a
girlfriend here and / or if there were more jobs in Brazil, he would go back to
Brazil. Sometimes he thinks about it: “If I have saved some more money, I will
visit my family and my home country.” He has not been back there for a
relatively long time. However: “If there had been an emergency with a close
family member, I would have gone already”. Divino is a very good note-taker.
This has been a refresher course on the Conditional, and in using his notes from
a few weeks ago, he was able to use the right conditional type to explain his
situation.
