TP #16

Koo and I met for our last scheduled tutoring session yesterday. I've had so much fun, and learned so much. It's nice to reflect on the past several weeks. Koo talked to me a bit about her new (elevated) group status in the CIES program. She's been struggling in her new classes, but based on the classwork we looked over, she's able to hang. We talked a bit about how at the moment she is at the edge of her English language abilities, but in due time her skills will advance and she'll be at a new level of proficiency.

Since Koo is now enrolled in more difficult classes, I have more complex language concepts to explain and problems to solve. We've been patient with each other as our respective challenges show up. We went over examples that show when it is appropriate to use "except for" and "except to." We also distinguished between the uses of the phrases "we are paying" and "we pay." I defined we are paying as something that is happening in the moment, and we pay as something that happens habitually, continuously. The last thing we went over is the use of the phrase "for example."

Koo wants to keep me as a tutor for the summer! I am so happy!
