For my final tutoring session with my child tutee, Claire, we worked a
bit more on singular nouns, and then we worked on plural nouns. Claire’s mom
explained to me that Claire sometimes gets confused when a word she knows is
changed to the plural form, so I had Claire fill in a worksheet which had to
deal with plural nouns. After the worksheet, Claire and I worked with this deck
of cards, which had a letter of the alphabet and a picture on each card. For
example, a card with the letter E would have an egg on it. I let Claire pick
out the cards, and then I had her write the singular and plural version of
whatever picture was on the card. This was fun for Claire because it gave her
the opportunity to choose what she wanted to write. At the end of our session,
I gave Claire a “Frozen” workbook that I scooped up from Books-a-million
because it is her all time favorite movie at the moment. She was adorable and
felt like she had to give me something in return, so she brought me a yummy marshmallow
treat that her dad had brought over from Korea.
