Isaac TP 12

In our previous meeting I prepared a video for Yassass to practice his listening. We ran into some issues with the speed of the material, so for this lesson I chose a video with slower dialogue in hopes that Yassass would have an easier time decoding the material. I chose a scene from the movie Forrest Gump, where Forrest is a boy living in his mother’s bed and breakfast, and he meets Elvis. I thought the video would be useful because the main character speaks slowly, it also gave an opportunity to experience different accents, and some (fictional) American cultural history. Similar to the previous lesson, I gave Yassass vocabulary words to familiarize himself with before he watched the video. Yassass seemed less confused by this video and I think more comfortable, since it wasn’t animated. We watched the video twice then went over the comprehension questions and vocabulary. He did well with the material, I think the speed of the dialogue made it much easier for Yassass to understand. I mentioned to him that watching tv and listening to the radio, even if doesn’t understand everything, will be very helpful with his listening skills.
