Isaac TP#6
Yesterday I got to meet with another tutee of mine, abdulrahman. We met in front of the library while another student, who was in a higher speaking level, sat with us. To start, I asked Abdul if he knew the alphabet, he confirmed. I then asked him to say the alphabet to me, he started having trouble around d-e-f. I then had him start the exercise over and write each letter as he went. We went through and repeated the letters he had trouble saying. Then we discussed vowels. We went over long and short sounds for each vowel, and discussed some rules associated with these sounds. After practicing words displaying both the long and short sounds of each vowel, I quizzed him on a an accumulation of the material. He did well except with some words ending in "e". Finally, I ran into an obstacle I had encountered in a previous lesson, the concept of the word so. I was lucky to have a student that of a higher speaking level to help explain the concept. I will be doing research on how to teach this term for future reference.
