TP #9 Jude

On Thursday, a day after the first meeting with Abdullah, I met with him again outside of CIES and we decided to go to Mcdonalds. This time, I wanted to make sure the lesson was as conversational as possible so that I could get a meaningful conversation across while working on some of the minimal pairs that we had worked on before.

When we got to McDonalds, we placed our order, and then immediately sat down at the back of the restaurant. Abdullah was very talkative today, which was a very good thing. I knew he had a worksheet that involved what he would do if he had a visitor from the United States to Kuwait, so we had something solid to work on.

I was very happy about the worksheet, because Abdullah is not having a lot of problems with speaking english, but is having a myriad of problems when it comes to spelling and grammar. Abdullah is consistently making grammar mistakes that are typical of new learner of the English language. Common words are misspelled such as pork and rice, and the syntax of his sentences need work.

We went over the worksheet and I helped him correct his errors, we talked about the PH sound and other facets of the English language, and then proceeded to work on our minimal pairs.
