David Sutton CP #3

On Tuesday evening, April 8th, I conducted my third conversation partner session with Ahmed at our usual location, Starbucks.  Ahmed has an overt personality and this is proving to be a real asset as he learns English through face-to-face interaction with native speakers.

Based on our conversations thus far, I have learned that Ahmed has met many American students here at FSU.  He is happy to tell me that everyone he has met has been extremely helpful whenever he's requested assistance.  I attribute this to his warm and friendly personality, referring back to the first paragraph.  My conversation partner is eager to talk about his life experiences in his native country as well as his travels abroad.  Despite his eagerness, there are times when he simply cannot find the right word to describe his experience and is not satisfied using the vocabulary he now knows.  In my opinion, this is a good thing because it shows he is striving to reach a higher level.  This is when I step in to assist him.  However, I sometimes have to remind him to write down the new word and meaning, so that he can use it again in the future.

Overall, Ahmed is proving to be an excellent conversation partner.  I believe he knows how to take advantage of our sessions together and use the entire hour to use as much of his English language vocabulary as possible.
