Isaac CP 2
Today I met with my conversation partner Charles. During our last session we discussed his difficulty in growing his social circle, as I have noticed is a problem for most CIES students. In particular, Charles expressed his struggle with communicating with American girls. I can imagine the torture it must be to constantly be surrounded by beautiful women, but lack the communicative skills necessary to engage in any meaningful conversation. I really tried to put myself in his shoes and come up with a plan to help Charles in his quest for romance. After deep thought and reflection, I created a situational dialogue including some basic cultural guidelines to give him some practice and hopefully, some confidence. We went over greetings, ice-breakers, appropriate conversation points, and approaches towards acquiring phone numbers. He seemed to really enjoy the material, and asked a lot of good questions. Next session we plan on going over proper text and phone call etiquette.
