I met my first conversation partner, Koo Eunkyung who is
from South Korea, for the first time today. And we had great conversations. Koo
is her last name, but she said, that everyone in the US called her Koo because
for most Westerners it is too difficult to pronounce her first name. Koo has
been here for half a year now. She followed her husband who is pursuing a
Master’s degree, I believe. Koo had thought that it was always warm in Florida,
this is why she had only brought summer clothes when she moved here last
October, and she was surprised when it actually became cold over the winter.
She is really looking forward to the summer.
In Seoul, Koo has a good job, working at the Ministry of
National Defense. However, her boss let her go to the US with her husband, and
she will be able to get her job back once she is back home after two years, I
think she said. Koo has only been married for a year, and she and her husband
have just a few days ago celebrated their first anniversary.
I am looking forward to meeting with her again soon.
