CP#1 Rick Shemanski
I met with my conversation partner Nawaf on Friday. I met with him outside of CIES and was expecting to get some coffee or just chat casually with him around the building. However, to my surprise Nawaf had other plans in mind. He introduced me to three of his friends and said that I was to join them for lunch. We went to a restaurant off Apalachee parkway call Samarat. Although Samarat is an India restaurant, it is the similar to Kuwaiti food. Nawaf and his friends are all recent highschool graduates from Kuwait. Nawaf is 19 years old and really enjoys American culture. He has a brand new Dodge Charger and keeps an Angry Bird stuffed animal on the dash board of his car. He said that the girls like it. I ask Nawaf if he was liking his time in the US and asked him about his home country. I learned alot about the culture and customs of Kuwait. Nawaf said that Kuwaitis like Americans and the US becuase the US helped Kuwait in the Gulf War.
