For my third conversation partner
session, I took my CP, Eunkyoung, and my tutee, Daeyoung, to food truck Thursday
at Lake Ella. Eunkyoung and Daeyoung are actually good friends so it worked out
well. On our way there, Daeyoung was
asking me about a shirt she just purchased that said “’murica” on it and was
asking what it meant and if it was offensive. I told her it was basically just
a slang term for America that people sometimes uses in a joking way and that it
wasn’t offensive. We got to food truck Thursday
and ordered some curry chicken gyros, which were delicious. We sat and talked
more about the differences in the Korean and American education systems along
with the differences in working culture.
All in all,
they really seemed to enjoy themselves. There was a live band playing folk
music that they liked and they said it was very peaceful.
