Isaac TP #3

After a series of emails and text messages I finally got to meet with Khaled. Khaled is the biological brother of another tutee of mine, Ali. Although not advisable, it was inevitable that I compared Khaled to his brother in their English skills. Khaled was much more reserved and timid, but a much better listener. Khaled wanted to work on his speaking, I could see during our conversation that he had a good ear for English, but was lacking in confidence when it came to speaking. He shows an air of perfectionism, which can be cultivated with practice and confidence. Khaled has a vast knowledge of vocabulary but his pronunciation and sentence structure needs work. I had him describe to me his weekend and what his plans were for his spring break, which revealed to me his skills in past and future verb tenses, both need work.  I'm encouraged by Khaled because he is patient with me, he knows that I, just like him, am learning a new skill. We exchanged laughs and sighs, but I feel confident that both of us see where we can benefit from one another. Our next meeting will consist of conversation, role playing, and speaking exercises. I expect a much smoother process in our next meeting.
