Katelyn TP #9

I met with Jun this morning. We are continuing to have a nice time together and I enjoy my meetings with him. Jun has a Science test this Monday, so we read through the chapter he will be quizzed on and the review/practice questions. We went over the practice questions many times throughout our session in between other reading and writing activities. At our first sessions, Jun was having trouble answering comprehension questions after reading short passages. Because of this, I have made an effort to ask more comprehension questions while reading. Jun enjoys reading his shorter picture books and small chapter books and he is very good at reading them. He still has to ask some questions about certain words and concepts, but I feel his reading material is level appropriate.

  1. I think asking more comprehension questions is definitely a good reinforcement activity because it allows for clarification and focus. And the fact that the reading material is level appropriate is great to hear because you don't want him to feel high level of stress on trying to just read through the book, but missing the main idea of the book. It's great to see that you're helping him academically and to see the gains through his reading skills!
